Idris Elba’s DNA test results have left him stunned – he’s 10% Ghanaian, 10% Nigerian, and 20% Bantu, with no indication of Sierra Leonean ancestry, despite his father being from Sierra Leone. The actor took the test twice to confirm, even eating jollof rice and okro before the second test, but the results were the same. Interestingly, Elba’s Ghanaian mother doesn’t believe in DNA testing, calling it a “money-making scheme”
Elba was born in the UK and grew up there, but had previously been awarded a Sierra Leonean passport by President Julius Maada Bio during a visit to the country. He’s currently working on an ambitious Bonthe city project.
