
The President of The Republic of Gambia, Adama Barrow, has thanked the CEO and team of the West Africa Social Media Awards (WASMA) for choosing Gambia to host the 2025 awards event. President Barrow warmly welcomed the WASMA team, including CEO Issa Kamara and representatives from Amin Electricals and Electronics, to his State House office in Banjul on Wednesday. During the visit, the President was honored with a leadership award by the CEO of WASMA, Issa Kamara, who highlighted President Barrow’s dedicated leadership and commitment to youth development in the region. In his acceptance, President Barrow emphasized the positive impact of such events on the country and pledged his continued support for similar initiatives.
The meeting, which also included introductions to the Heads of Amin Electricals and Electronics in The Gambia, was facilitated by Lamin K Saidy, the Presidential Youth Adviser.
The WASMA Awards ceremony was held at the Motherland venue on December 12, 2025. The event attracted prominent figures, social media influencers, and even long-distance traveler Saviour Deity, who journeyed from Ghana to The Gambia on his motorbike to attend the Awards.
