Legendary Steady Bongo Receives Cultural Artist Award at 10th SLAAM Awards in USA

The recently held 10th SLAAM Awards at Hampton Heights in Maryland, USA, witnessed the late Steady Bongo being honoured with the prestigious Best Cultural Artist award for his impactful song ‘Fake Married’ at the event organised by the Sierra Leone Association of Artists and Musicians (SLAAM).

In a competitive category, Steady Bongo emerged victorious, showcasing his enduring influence on the music industry and beating out other talented contenders for the coveted award.

Alongside Steady Bongo, King Boss LAJ was recognised as the Best Rapper, while Nashito Kulala secured the title of Best Producer during the star-studded ceremony, attended by members of the Sierra Leonean community residing in the United States, highlighting the diverse talent within the group.

Recognised as a legendary cultural musician in Sierra Leone, Steady Bongo became known for his contributions to promoting peace during the country’s civil war through his music. With several albums to his credit, his untimely passing last year in an accident marked a significant loss in the music industry.
