Jacob Alexander Evangelista, known as The Therapist, has been nominated for Best West African Artiste of the Year by Headies. On September 3rd, 2023, the prestigious award ceremony will take place.

Other West African acts nominated include Black Sheriff, Camidoh, and Gyakie from Ghana.

In the nomination list, The Therapist was listed as a Liberian artist. Many of his Sierra Leone fans are confused. We’re not sure if it was a mistake on Headies’ part or something else. The Therapist hasn’t come out to clear things up.

Mixed reactions have been posted on social media about this confusion. You should’ve clarified your nationality so the fans know the mistake wasn’t yours, even if Headies won’t change your country’s name. “It doesn’t matter what nationality you are at this time, it’s time to elevate our people. Let’s do this”.

Therapist, a former Cribs International signee, gained fame with ‘Nack’. At the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, he was also nominated for Best African Artiste.

In 2006, Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria started the Headies (originally called the Hip Hop World Awards) to honor outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. Performers include established and up-and-coming artists.
